We are all doing fine, besides the mandatory sleep deprivation for Mommy & Daddy.
We spent most of the time immediately after Isaac was born getting ready for Christmas. Nathan loved making cookies & working on the gingerbread house.

It took several days, but the end result was fabulous (and tastes pretty good, too)!

Also, for those of you who may have missed it, Gwen turned 30 this year.
It was a low-key celebration. Gwen didn't want too much attention as she enters her 4th decade of life. The couple that brought us dinner that night brought a delicious birthday cake.

Happy Birthday, Darling!
We celebrated Christmas here at home in Erie. We realized that wrapping presents for a 2-wk-old is not worth the hassle ... even w/ Nathan to help open the presents!
We also found out that Nathan can keep a secret if he knows something is a surprise. He doesn't tell you what the surprise is, but he makes sure you know he's keeping a secret!

We then traveled down to visit our families. Isaac did fine during his first long car ride.
We visited my grandparents while we were there.

Notice the senior pictures of Will & I in the background. My grandparents have quite a "Wall of Shame" (that's what Grandpap calls it) in their house!
When we were at Gwen's parents house, all 4 of us stayed in Gwen's old room. Since Isaac slept in the Pack & Play, Nathan slept in a sleeping bag on the floor. Actually, he started in the sleeping bag, but ...

Katie & Dave were there to celebrate with us.

This picture was taken on New Year's Eve. He really has the smiling thing down when he's not tired or hungry.

We hosted our annual New Year's party again this year. Some people thought we were crazy for doing it so soon after Isaac was born, but I took the day off work to help get ready, and Gwen didn't go overboard on the food like she has in years past. After everyone left, we realized we didn't take any pictures :(
Nathan & Isaac decide to show off one of their presents. They wore their sweaters to church. Aren't they cute?

Nathan still shows his love & affection to Isaac when he gets a chance. He gets worked up when Isaac cries and it is very sweet how he gives him the gentlest kisses & hugs.
Nathan & I love that we have more LEGOs to play with. This was our tower on wheels. It is way taller than Nathan, so you can guess who did a lot of the building. Can you see the little man at the top?
We were so thankful to be able to spend a lot of time together as a family around Christmas. It really lessened the burden on Gwen that I was off around Christmas & New Year's.
Now that things are settling into more of a routine, we can hopefully get more frequent updates posted so you can all see Isaac & Nathan grow.
I try to build towers but Graham knocks them down before they can get very tall! :)
ReplyDeletePatience, grasshopper. Nathan used to knock them down, too. Now he "helps" build them.
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe how much Isaac has grown and I love that smile. I really like the gingerbread house. You will have to Kim some pointers. That is some tower. Can't wait to see you all next week.
